    A lovely soft blue and yellow colour palette is so versatile it can lend itself to an Art Deco interior just as it can to a lovely beachside retreat.

    The contemporary look of the Haveli Chevron Blue dhurrie rug from The Rug Company and Alessi’s Whistling kettle at David Mellor is softened by using by the Englebert chest of drawers from Graham and Green in the mix.

    Fashion imitates… Japanese luxe

    A huge trend both on the high street and at the Milan Saloni this year is the paired down Japanese aesthetic. Natural materials, origami folds and muted tones characterised John Lewis‘ sophisticated looking collections for the coming season, whereas on the catwalk Paul Smith has used luxurious silks in belted kimono style jackets to achieve an eastern flavour.

    Life.Style.Etc loves Jamie Oliver’s Big Chair Project

    Who’d have thought it was 10 years since Jamie Oliver took a bunch of troubled youngsters and trained them to become professional chefs for his landmark Fifteen restaurant. To mark the anniversary, Jamie Oliver’s charity The Better Food Foundation has launched the Big Chair Project. The fantastic Fritz Hansen has very kindly donated 20 new ‘Ant’ chairs (the iconic chair featured in the original restaurant) and asked  various artists to customise them with a food-related design. Artists involved  include Tracey Emin, Paul Smith, and Alexander McQueen’s designer Sarah Burton. Some of our faves are above.
