Who doesn’t love a bit of marble, particularly carrara? In fact designers love it so much they’re creating products that masquerade as the real thing.

Couture fashion designer Maurizio Galante started it with his ‘Louis XV goes to Sparta’ (2) seating range for Cerruti Baleri, which appears carved from the classic material but is actually a plywood and polyurethane foam chair upholstered in silk digitally printed with a photo of the classic marble.

And now you can create marble walls in your Victorian semi with Ferm Living’s Wallsmart wallpaper (1). Or appear to defy gravity with the new marble pendant lampshades by Servomuto which you can buy here. Meanwhile, marble is in the details with London ceramicist Alison Brent’s pieces which include these door knobs (4).

    It’s all simply marbellous (sorry)!
