Beautifully designed restaurant and bar spaces are always a pleasure to ogle.

After all you just never know where you might find an idea for the home, although admittedly the timber-clad columns of Studio Mode’s Graffiti Bar in a boutique hotel in Varna, Bulgaria might be a bit impractical in a suburban semi.

The above bar was the joint overall winner of this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

This Spanish restaurant (above) A Cantina by Estudio Nomada was the other overall winner, the soaring ceiling and timber construction lends it a calming ecclesiastical air.

Other winners included this impressive pop-up (above), Les Grandes Tables de L’ile Seguin by 1024 Architecture

This cafe (above), Cafe Kureon in Toyama by Kengo Kuma & Associates

And this bakers (above), Baker D. Chirico in Melbourne, Australia by March Studio

Hmm *taps chin with fingers* we surmise that doing interesting things with wood is evidently a bit of a global trend.

The Melbourne bakers is just out of this world. Innovative use of wood certainly does seem to the global trend
