Calling all mid-century modern fans

There are few design aficionados that don’t appreciate the crafted forms of the Wishbone chair (aka the CH24, or Y chair) by Danish master of design Hans J Wegner (that’s the pair of them above). Designed in 1949 it remains one of Carl Hansen’s bestselling classics today.
Wegner designed quite a few more furniture classics. You can see 30 of his designs right now at Cambridge University’s Churchill College, which enjoyed a long association with the designer since its foundation in 1961.

These include now iconic chairs such as Round Chair (graced by JFK and Nixon for their legendary 1960 Presidential debate), but also rarer designs for chairs, sofas, tables and lighting. Definitely one for the mid-century modern design fan (and it’s free). So, go lust!
On until 28th November.
Chairs by Wegner, Churchill College, Storey’s Way, Cambridge.
Mon-Sun, 9-5pm.

So glad you’ve done a piece of wegner, the guy is a genius and doesn’t receive enough attention!
