    Livingetc launches virtual reality app

    Design Classic aficionados, here’s your chance to have an iconic piece in your home – virtually. Livingetc Reveal is a new app which, thanks to technology developed with SayDuck, enables you to see how everything from an Eames Lounger to an Eileen Grey side table, would look in your sitting room.

    The World According to…Jaime Hayón

    Spanish designer Jaime Hayón is well known for his playful and exuberant style, which he’s applied most notably to porcelain for Lladro, crystal glass for Baccarat and all manner of materials for a host of furniture brands including B.D. Barcelona, Est. & Sons, , Ceccotti, Magis, &Tradition and Fritz Hansen, for whom he created the Favn sofa. We caught up with him in Milan, at the launch of the Ro chair (see above and below), also for Fritz Hansen.

    So tell us about the Ro chair.  The colours were important, I wanted the inside cushions to differ from the shell, I wanted them to have some movement in terms of different shades when the chair catches the light, say from dark to light blue, so I asked if Kvadrat could provide fabrics that would do that (the fabrics vary depending on colour, but include Canvas, Milani, Steelcut). The main shell fabric of the chair had to be very durable and resistant.  I didn’t want to have any ‘screaming’ colours, they had to be subtle and easy, so they are easy to combine with many interiors.
